Amanda Thompson

Amanda Thompson’s paintings record both interior and exterior experiences of the coast, garden, countryside and home surrounding her East Kent home. Her practice draws on landscape and nature as a starting point to consider ideas about time, temporality, loss and change through the process of layers and layering. She finds meaning in the patterns and rhythms of nature, mapping the changes of a fast moving world by ‘holding ‘moments in time and fixing them on the canvas. These held moments become tracings of time present which is always about to be erased; inscribing that moment, capturing that stillness is evident in her work.

Amanda had a joint show at Linden Hall with textile artist Katy Broomfield in August 2015 entitled Fusion.
