John Corley is a visual artist in both paint and glass and owner of John Corley Stained Glass With wife Heather and son Myles he opened Linden Hall Studio in November 2014 which has already established itself as one of the leading contemporary art galleries in Kent.
Following graduation in Fine Art, John joined Canterbury Cathedral Stained Glass Studio where he studied glass painting, the art of the unique visual medium of stained and painted glass and the conservation of glass from the 12th Century.
John eventually set up his own studio in rural Kent. It soon became necessary to expand and a larger studio was established in Deal, which now employs a team of skilled craftsmen and women. The studio has developed in scale and complexity and undertakes new commissions and conservation of glass of all periods.
As John explains: 'Henri Matisse (1869-1934) the great French artist, painter, architect and glass designer once said, …… "I am fully aware that a painters best spokesman is his work". As a visual artist I hold on to that dictum - respond to our own creativity as well as the work of others; art and architecture and of course the natural world.'
John Corley is a Conservator - Restorer (PACR), Member of the United Kingdom Institute for Conservation (ICON) and has for many years been a member of the British Society of Master Glass Painters (BSMGP).
