Cuillin Bantock
Recent paintings, and works on paper
8 – 26 October 2019
Cuillin Bantock trained as both scientist (Genetics and Ecology at Oxford) and artist (Painting at Camberwell). He worked as a professional scientist before returning to painting full-time in 1990. Almost all his work is based on a lifelong familiarity with a particular North Welsh maritime sand-hill system which he still regularly visits to make on-site work. Although his paintings on canvas are non-depictive they convey through their naturalistic colouring a sense of outside space, light and place. He has exhibited widely in the UK, and also in Canada, the States and Italy.
