This new collection reframes and reconnects the enduring threads of a process that began 60 years ago.
Since my last exhibition at Linden Hall Studio in September 2021, I have continued to explore a number of themes through my painting.
Observation of organic forms ranging from plants to landscape and seascapes remains a constant for me. Inspiration also comes from cathedral architecture and the built environment. The human figure remains a point of departure which often leads me towards narrative drawing. Whatever source material I work from, I try to express the intrinsic, magical energy within the subject matter through colour and texture, rather than just the surface effect. Abstraction and poetic interpretation provide the freedom for an artist to do that.
