Louise Balaam is a member of the New English Art Club. She captures the emotional impact of landscape in her paintings, particularly the quality of light, using intuitive, gestural brushstrokes. She aims for energy and expressiveness, using the paint to evoke sensations. Louise then works in the studio but not directly from the drawings, preferring to work intuitively and allow space for imagination and memory as the painting develops and takes on its own life. Her work is in the English landscape tradition of Turner and Constable.
Louise was in April 2017’s exhibition: Selected Artists from the New English Art Club.
