Noela James Bewry was born in Vienna to Austrian and Jamaican parents in 1951, was brought up in London and has lived in Stroud in Gloucestershire for many years.
The content of the paintings in this exhibition developed out of a drive to express tangible abstract invention. A process of discovery to create a complex visual experience out of an unpredetermined approach to painting.
She belongs to a group, ‘Brancaster Chronicles’, which discusses abstract sculpture and painting via filmed sessions in artist studios, and has been a regular contributor to ‘Abstract Critical’, a former forum for discursive argument around abstract sculpture and painting.
