Educated at Exeter, Cheltenham and Birmingham Colleges of Art-  Meets Heron and Olitski. 

First show at MOMA Oxford in 71, [with Gary Wragg]. Jones Moved to London and had a studio in Ladbroke Grove and was a part time lecturer in Painting at Exeter, Somerset and Canterbury colleges of Art. 

Jones was chosen by Albert Irvin and Andrew Forge for an MFA at the Maryland Institute in Baltimore, with Grace Hartigan. He travelled across America by car, in the spirit of Kerouac. Forge chose a large Painting made in the US for his Hayward Annual, CIA exhibition to Demarco Gallery Edinboro. Returning to UK in 75, showing at Jenny Todd gallery Ladbroke Grove and began teaching at Reading University and Wimbledon School of Art. 

Moving to Camberwell where her met Jenny Durrant and John Mclean and was regular visitor to Stockwell Depot ,altho had own big studio in Warner Rd. Jones was chosen by Durrent, Gili and Judy Marle for Serpentine show along with 4 others. Moved to Acme House in Beck Rd a studio to LEB Building in Greenwich, with Mali Morris, Geoff Rigden, and Jeff Lowe to name a fw. 

First one man show in Cork St with Nicola Jacobs gallery. Anthony Caro chose 8 Paintings for IBM building, by Denys Lasdun. Two man show with Charles Hewlings at I.C.A .John Hoyland choses 4 Works for Hayward Annual.Chosen by Gene Baro to represent the UK at the Carnegie International with Durrant, Cohen and Hoyland. Meets Sanford Wurmfeld who offers a positiop

In  NY.1982 chosen by Tony Caro for Triangle Workshop in Pine Plains he meets Helen Frankenthaler and emigrates to New York in 1983. Jones takes up studio Greenpoint Brooklyn with Bill Tucker- With the Caros visits the Met to view African and Oceanic Art.Particularly impressed by Dogon sculpture and begins making eccentric shaped paintings out of construction materials. Later moving to Long Island City and becomes studio assistant to Stanley Boxer,Donald Sultan. Exhibitions at Triangle Gallery ,NY ,Vermont Studio School,Kansas Art Institute.In 91 returns to UK upon death of Father/Mother diagnosed with Parkinsons. Moving back to Exeter and opens Unit Ten Artists Gallery and the Colour Course.Meets Frost,Barrie Cook and stages exhibitions in Kings Wharf. Moves to APT studios having one man shows at APT Gallery and Poussin Gallery.Works for Saatchi and Momart. Uppon the death of his  Mother he moves back to Devon, taking a permanent studio at Coombe Farm Lympstone. 

A Fellow at the University of Plymouth – one man shows at Plymouth, Millfield School, Atkinson gallery,with Basil Beattie. Other shows at Delfina Gallery London, Burton Art Gallery, BidefordTall Paintings. Organises Appledore Arts Festival, with Mel Gooding, Sam Cornish, John Daly. One man show Hillsboro Gallery Dublin.Extensive residencies in Ireland at Ballinglen and Cill Railiag.80s Paintings with John Hubbard in Lyme Regis. Jones sells largest Triangle Painting to London, Double Open Heart Surgery 2009/2015. One man show Chelsea Arts Club 2016,Opens Abstract Art Class, Retrospective at Spacex Exeter, M-Restaurant Bishops gate /one man Wild Moose Gallery Barnstaple.Budleigh Salterton Literary Festival, one man show at the Bank Flat and Linden Hall Gallery Deal Kent, Survey show.Chelsea Arts Club Nov 2020.Phew
