Over the last few days the team has been working very hard to ensure that the online presence of the gallery is exactly where it should be, to ensure that we can still offer you, our audience a window into the world of the visual language!
One of the pleasures of doing this has certainly been the reflection it has provided our entire team through looking back over the 60 exhibitions we have held at Linden Hall Studio.
This gave us the idea of starting a new reflection series, whilst the gallery is closed. We will feature a different artist every week from our exhibition programme, showing some exhibition highlights as well as previously unseen works!
Looking back, for the means to go forward…
…beginning with Jennifer Durrant RA
Over the last few days we have been re-releasing the works of Jennifer Durrant RA via our social media channels, revisiting her show with us from 2018, which she held with sculptor David Evison…
… The show was called MADE IN EUROPE
This painting by Jennifer Durrant RA , was a very powerful piece within her exhibition. Viewers often were required to take a step back, allow their eyes to refocus after they had been engulfed in the speed of the colour, shape and texture that her painting demands of an audience.
Jennifer paints in her studio overlooking the beauty and wonder of the ever changing italian landscape. This highlighting her passion for that change of light, intensity and form which runs throughout this collection of her work.
GHIRLANDA SERIES, SIGHS TO SING NO.1, Acrylic on Canvas, 132 x 91 cm, POA
In this interview with Gallery Director, Myles Corley, Jennifer was asked about her process of looking. She swiftly responds, she is not looking but responding. The above painting at its very core, is a wonderful, resolved and engaging response to the world around its maker.
