A Painter living in Kent, in the 1950’s she Studied at Folkestone school of art and Dover school of art, moving onto the Royal collage of Art to begin studying again in her 40s, (graduating in 1981) after a brake form painting to raise a family with late husband the painter Roy Oxlade
She didn’t brake into the art world until she was in her 70’s, after a write up in a magazine brought the focus onto her, since then she has exhibited international and in the UK in places such as the Tate and Serpentine galleries
In 2011, she was given the Paul Hamlyn Award and in 2014, she won the John Moores Painting Prize. In 2018 she was awarded an OBE in Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
