So it’s been 10 years, and here we are, marking this milestone with our biggest Winter Group Show to date!
As the counter of our monthly exhibition calendar clocks over at this, our 100th show it is certainly a moment to pause and reflect on a decade of Linden Hall Studio. One of the team did inform me that their quick maths worked out I’d been in this building for 30,000 hours… of course I don’t regret a second!
OVER THE LAST TEN YEARS...
…we have developed our exhibition programme to include ten major shows a year culminating in this, our annual Winter Group Show – It has certainly been quite the adventure! Over the past decade the gallery team and I have delighted in evolving LHS into a centre for all visual arts…. from lectures and film screenings, masterclasses to school visits, and two film festivals a year! These film festivals featuring extremely high calibre guest lecturers from the BBC, academic institutions and industry experts.
This exhibition , The Winter Group Show has certainly become a highlight of our exhibition programme, its aim is to show a cross section of the entire spectrum of the visual language. Celebrating the spread of works and styles that creators independently make throughout the UK, Europe and further oversees this year!
We are really proud to be able to offer a platform to exhibit such a variety of work. The only downside being that as the popularity of the show grows, so does the pile of submissions we receive! This list does get longer, and the breadth of quality, talent, skill and thoughtfulness is overwhelming - it is a pleasure for the team here to go through each and every application. It is important to thank and acknowledge all of the artists whether within the show whether selected or invited, for without them there would be no exhibition.
When the gallery first opened, Deal hadn’t yet had the cultural revolution which has made the town the seaside destination it has now become...
We like to think in our own contributing way, we have proudly assisted in its development. Thank you to all of the artists, supporters, and visitors who have made a decade of Linden Hall Studio, an absolute pleasure.
